Player Profile David Sklansky
David Sklansky was born in Teaneck, New Jersey on December 22 and now lives in Henderson, Nevada which is actually part of the great Las Vegas area.

In addition to his Poker playing proficiency, David is known as one of the leading authorities on Poker, Blackjack and gambling in general. His knowledge of gambling comes from practical experience and success as a professional Tournament Poker player of championship caliber.

Sklansky has, in fact, won World Series of Poker bracelets on three occasions. In 1982, in a mixed doubles ($800 and $1,000) Draw Hi, Sklansky won two bracelets. He won the third bracelet in a $1,000 Limit Omaha Hi Tournament in 1985.

His live Tournament winnings have thus far exceeded $300,000.

David Sklansky has written extensively on the subject of gambling in all its aspects and his work is published by Two Plus Two Publishing – in which Sklansky is a principle along with partners Mason Malmuth and Ray Zee, who are also professional Poker players and authors.

David played Poker in college. He attended the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. To say he was a conservative player is probably the understatement of the year.

A college chum of David’s reports that Sklansky folded no less than 162 times straight in a particular college game, then bet ten dollars in the 163rd game – and everyone else folded!

Thus far, Sklansky has authored or co-authored a dozen books on various aspects of gambling, most of them associated with Poker. In fact, his book “The Theory of Poker” is considered a MUST read by many students of the game. David’s success as a player and author are most likely due to his exceptional mathematical abilities and logical mind-set which is a propensity probably inherited from his father, Irving Sklansky, a professor at Columbia University.

Among David Sklansky’s published works are:

- Hold’em Poker
- Poker, Gaming and Life
- Sklansky on Poker
- Sklansky on Razz
- Sklansky Talks Blackjack
- Theory of Poker
- Tournament Poker for Advanced Players

David Sklansky’s co-authored published works:

- Gambling for a Living – Sklansky/Malmuth
- Hold’em Poker for Advanced Players – Sklansky/Malmuth
- Seven Card Stud for Advanced Players – Sklansky/Zee
- Small Stakes Hold’em: Winning Big With Expert Play – Sklansky/Malmuth and Ed Miller

In addition to these writings and others co-authored with Mason Malmuth and/or ray Zee, David has produced two videos and writes frequently for a number of gambling publications.

Live Poker seminars, given from time to time in Las Vegas and Atlantic City, as well as consulting work for various casinos, keep Sklansky on the go. However, David still finds the time to compete in Tournaments and he is a competent handicapper and all-round sports bettor as well.

As of late, David Sklansky has even invented a number of gaming device innovations that have been accepted by some leading casinos. Kenneth Bateman writes numerous articles on the subject of poker and its players. To read more player profiles, visit Poker at XL Poker.com.
