Choosing A Baseball Bat Get The Basics Right
Choosing the right bat for baseball is an important piece of equipment which has to be perfectly comfortable for the player to use. Why? Because if is'nt it could hurt the players chances of getting hits! And that's what it's all about!

First, the weight of the bat is one of the most important parts about choosing a bat. The bat should not be too heavy as the player should be able to swing the bat with no problem. If it is too light the bat may not be heavy enough to drive the ball. The bat should be heavy enough for the player to drive the ball while being light enough for the player to get around on the ball. Simple concept, but often easier said than done!

Depending on where the players stance is in the batter’s box the player must adjust the length of the bat to how close or far the player stands off the plate. If the player stands far off the plate then a longer bat is needed. Conversely if the player crowds the plate then you should use a shorter bat in order to get around on inside pitches.

In choosing a bat the player needs to gear the equipment to the level they are playing. If playing in a softball league metal bats can be used but if the league is professional the players need to use wooden bats. Aluminum bats have more pop to them so if you are in an amateur league chances are an aluminum bat would be the bat of choice.

Another aspect of choosing a bat a can be how thick the grip is. This is different in every bat so the one that is right for the player is the one they feel the most comfortable with. The player needs to have a firm grip on the bat as to hold onto it while swinging away.

If all this seems complicated, remember that finding the right bat will mean more chance of hitting those home runs... and that's one of the best feelings there is! Robert Coram writes for baseballbatbox.com a website packed with baseball bat articles and wooden baseball bat resources
