Expert Advice on Planning Your Next Move
The warmer months are when many people buy a new home. This means a new beginning, a new phone number and new things to buy. When families purchase a home, they typically purchase all new household products. Often, people go a bit overboard and get more than they need.

When moving, there are a few steps all homeowners should take to ensure their move goes as smoothly as possible. Lifestyle expert Katie Brown, author of the book "Katie Brown's Weekends," has the following tips on what to do before and after you move, and how to stick to your budget:

* Make sure to notify the cable, electric, gas and phone companies so that service can be turned on as soon as you move in. Be sure to ask the phone company to use a forwarding message with your new number.

* Notify the post office at least a month ahead of time to ensure your mail is forwarded to your new address.

* Send out change-of-address cards to friends and family.

* Collect copies of family medical records if you are moving far enough to change doctors. New schools will also require copies of these records.

* Schedule your movers a day or two after you have access to your new home. This will give you time to give it a good cleaning. The bathroom often is the dirtiest area in a new home. To effectively clean all areas of your bathroom, use an all-in-one product like Mr. Clean Magic Reach. With multifunctional cleaning products, you'll also save money and you won't clutter your home with numerous bottles of cleaning solution.

* Nothing signals a good neighbor more than a pretty lawn. Take a short break from the unpacking and plant a few flowers. The fresh air will do you good and the flowers will make your yard look inviting.

* Remember when decorating that the house should reflect your personal style. That doesn't mean that you have to purchase expensive new furniture and accessories. Check out tag sales and flea markets for great products and good deals. For more tips from Katie Brown, visit www.mrclean.com. - NU
